Piano Lessons for everyone!
Piano Lessons for everyone!
I grew up in South Wales as part of a large musical family.
I started playing piano and studying singing at the age of 8, where I first studied Piano with Joyce Powell and the very talented Rowena Oakey, and Organ at St.John’s Newport. I am also a skilled marching band percussionist, having played all the instruments in this family.
From Head Chorister at St. John’s Church, Maindee, and Bandmaster of the Borough of Newport Pipes & Drums, I conducted the Massed Male Choirs at the National Eisteddfod in Newport in 1987 at the age of only 21.
I am a former Trombonist of the Band of the 3 Battalion Royal Regiment of Wales, and former conductor of other male choirs including Newport (Gwent) and Snowdown (Kent).
I also studied singing with the RSCM. I have performed in a variety of Top venues including Bath Abbey, the Royal Albert Hall, Westminster Cathedral, Cardiff Castle, Dover Castle, Plymouth Hoe, the NEC, Twickenham, and Wembley.
I really enjoy performing, conducting and teaching - all three skills I use to the pupil's advantage.
I also Adjudicate at National Choir Festivals, both Adults and Children's, including visits recently to Ireland, London, Birmingham, Manchester, Northern Ireland, and the Isle of Man.
In 2001, I founded the very successful Wessex Male Choir, which won over 20 Prizes in competitions on the International stage.
The Choir became International Male Choir Champions at the International Musical Eisteddfod in Llangollen- the World's Premier Choral Competition. I also conducted the National Anthems with the choir for the England v Wales Rugby International at Twickenham in February 2012, and England V Australia in 2013.
In 2005, TV & Radio Presenter and singing star Aled Jones, became the choir's patron.
I retired as Founder and Director of Wessex Male Choir at the end of 2013, and in 2015 was appointed as Festival Director for the Cornwall International Male Choral Festival - the World's largest Male Choir Festival with over 70 Choirs from all over the World for a 5-day Festival. www.cimcf.uk
I also direct Two Female Choirs, and help choirs of all types prepare for Competitions by way of workshops.
I also adjudicate at many top Choral Festivals at home an abroad, as well as help choirs as they prepare for Competition.
I have arranged lots of music for Choirs, especially Male Choirs.
I feel humble that my passion for choral music has enabled me to be entrusted not only with continuing the fine tradition of choirs, but preserving and developing it for generations to come...
